We visited the spa on the last day for manicures and the spa staff was professional and prompt. We did stay over Thanksgiving so our room was not serviced, however, when we called the front desk with requests they were delivered immediately. Also, the drinks were all very well made.
Chef Nicholas Porreca made the best prime rib and salmon I ever had. We enjoyed three meals at the Cabin restaurant and the food was incredible. The room that we stayed in had a smell I could not figure out but my husband described it as cedar wood burn. There is a wood burning fireplace in the Cabin restaurant which creates a cedar-wood burning smell throughout the hotel and restaurant. I specifically looked in corners, at ceiling fans and places where you would notice dirt and all was very clean. I can see how someone might think it looks dingy due to the historic decor but its not. The place is quaint, historic/rustic with all original dark hard wood. First, I would like to address some of the negative review points I read. I have not been to Mario's since 1996 and when I was looking over the reviews, I considered going elsewhere. My husband and I just got back from a 2 night stay at Mario's hotel/spa and it was amazing.
